My best friend is also my kids’ Godmother. Bless her…she prays for my kids faithfully. On Saturday she texted me with some verses God led her to to guide her prayers for them. (Again, bless her.) My kids were at my mom’s house (bless her) and I began to think about how we could keep these verses in their minds and in their hearts all year long. God stirred my creative spirit and I came up with these 2 pictures to hang up on each of their bulletin boards:
As I began to draw, God brought forth other promises and verses He wanted my kids to know for the coming year. The truth is, we never know when we are going to need reminding. We can’t predict when the going is gonna get tough. We can’t always find the right words to fend off the darkness when it makes it’s unruly appearance. And so, we plaster God’s Word all around us so when we need it, it’s effortless to find.
Later that night after I had given the girls their posters, my oldest came down to bring me this:
Then today, she made one for a friend:
Isn’t it awesome to see how God’s Word takes root in us and grows so abundantly, filling us, but also those around us. Because a full cup can’t help but overflow when it’s continually fueled by God’s love and a community of people’s encouragement.
I want to overflow. Daily. And as I pour out God’s Word, His Word overflows from my heart and my mouth (and it is so much better than all the junk that normally comes out of these places). Just today as I set up the Facebook launch group, I confessed that my heart started racing and I was near hyperventilating. I cried out to God for a scripture and was lead to this from Psalm 116:
“Let my soul be at rest again, for the LORD has been good to me. He has saved me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling. And so I walk in the LORD’s presence as I live here on earth!”
And my friend responded with this from Psalm 96:3:
“Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.”
It seems God’s word seems to breed more of God’s word. We get caught up in a cycle of continually seeking Him instead of getting caught up in a cycle of getting trapped in our worry, anxiety, and fear.
And sometimes, in order for us to avoid those traps, we have to make posters. Big posters and hang them around our house so we do not forget. Because these words have power. They have strength. They have the ability to crush darkness and slay enemies.
Let us remind each other of this Word, of this power. Let us build each other up with the things that always sustain, always bring hope, always stand the test of time.
Let us overflow with the very Word of God.
Let’s connect here this week: You can participate in either of 2 ways. 1) Leave a comment letting us know where you are feeling barren, alone, hopeless, shameful, etc. We will respond with a verse (anyone can respond!) of comfort and grace from the Bible. 2) Leave a verse YOU run to when you are feeling barren, alone, distrustful, hopeless, etc. I cannot wait to see this cycle of love play out here!!

SDG Gathering Important Information
Lisa Smith is helping me facilitate our gatherings each week. She is visiting those of you who link up on “even” numbers and I am visiting the “odd” (don’t worry, I’m not calling YOU odd). She will also be sharing on Mondays with you from time to time, opening up her heart and life to you, as you faithful do with us each week you link up. We do have some important housekeeping items about this gathering, so if you have not read them, please come here to catch up. The condensed version: Link up ONE post that shares your heart authentically and be sure to check in with some of your sisters who have linked up with you. Leave a heartfelt word of encouragement for them after you visit their space. This is a community where we actively seek to get to know each other.
